The Champagne region vineyards spread out as you move along the country roads to the historic village of Hautvillers. Dom Perignon, often considered as the “Father of Champagne” resided in Hautvillers, rightly called as the birthplace of Champagne.

You will see the winery, blending, riddling, disgorging…and wind-up with a glass of the vineyard’s champagne. After fuelling yourself with Champagne, stop for lunch in a local restaurant in the center of Epernay, serving a traditional menu with local delicacies of the Champagne Region.

Proceed to Reims in the afternoon and visit the world famous Mercier champagne house or other cellar. An expert will give you an insight about the method of Champagne making from grape picking to bottling. This champagne house was founded in 1827 and is now the world’s third largest producer of this festive wine. An expert will explain how champagne is made, right from grape picking to bottling the wine. Enjoy a glass of champagne at the end of this visit.

Conclude the day with a short visit to the Reims Cathedral. Twenty five kings were crowned in this majestic cathedral. See the beautiful 12-petalled rose window, a Gothic organ case and an astronomical clock. The Cathedral is a Gothic masterpiece.
