The Louvre Museum is one of the the most visited, oldest, largest and famous art galleries and museums in the world. Home to masterpieces like Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and the ancient Greek sculpture Venus de Milo, it is an art and culture lover’s delight.
The painstakingly put together Winged Victory that was found in 118 pieces on a hillside on a small island called Samothrace in the Aegean Sea is a must see. The Louvre has an awe inspiring transparent pyramid in its courtyard and is a great place to learn about Europe’s rich history and culture.

The tour starts from designated meeting point and will proceed to the Louvre on foot accompanied by guide.
Before going into the Louvre spend some time in the Tuileries garden. This is a central park in Paris. Its alleys and lawns stretch along the Seine River from the Louvre museum to the Place de la Concorde. Designed in 1664 by Le Notre, the gardener of the king of France, Louis XIV and the Versailles park designer, the Tuileries garden has beautiful basins and statues.
Inside the Louvre Museum your guide will tell you about three of the most famous works:
• The statue of Winged Victory was found on a small Greek island, Samothrace, in the Aegean Sea. She was discovered in 1863 by archaeologist Charles Champoiseau, scattered over a deserted hillside.
• The Venus de Milo is an ancient Greek statue and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture. It is believed to depict Aphrodite (called Venus by the Romans), the Greek goddess of love and beauty. It is a marble sculpture whose arms and original plinth have been lost.
• The Mona Lisa or La Gioconda, is a 16th century oil painting by Leonardo da Vinci and is arguably the most famous painting in the world. Few works of art have been subject to as much scrutiny, study and parody.
The guided tour ends in the museum at around 11:15am. You are free to stay in the museum and browse the works at your leisure.
