You will be picked up from your hotel in Paris at 5:30pm in an air-conditioned minivan for a delightful evening at the Palace of Vaux-Le-Vicomte.

This French Baroque palace located in Maincy was built between 1658 and 1661 by Nicolas Fouquet, the superintendent of finances in the court of Louis XIV. The palace was the tragic setting for the downfall of Fouquet, who was imprisoned for life on false charges of embezzlement.

The imposing palace has a beautiful garden that is carved out of the dense surrounding woods. It also has water basins and canals contained in stone curbs, fountains and gravel walks.

Begin with a visit to the Carriage Museum that houses a rare collection of horse- drawn carriages of the 18th and 19th centuries. Then have dinner at the Les Charmilles restaurant, located in a wing of the outbuildings of the palace.

Later in the evening, watch the palace and the gardens glimmer with the light of over 2000 candles – a breathtakingly beautiful sight. Take an audio-guided tour of the palace and learn more about it.

Every Saturday until October 6 fireworks take place in the gardens of Vaux le Vicomte. In case of bad weather fireworks could be cancelled.

After the tour, you shall be dropped back to your hotel around 12:30 Midnight.

As I booked this tour for four, I wa a little apprehensive about a birthday celebration. Bruno quickly made this an experience never to forget. Wow!! The personal touch, the tour, the setting, the food and the fireworks(only sat nights) could not have been better. THANK YOU ISANGO for making my 53rd as memorable as possible!

Our group of four thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially being picked up and delivered back to our hotel. We would not have gone otherwise. The people in our small group were interesting and we exchanged emails with one couple. The gardens are not in bloom in early May, but the carriage museum was interesting. The high light was the dinner of lobster, steak, two wines, and dessert and then the tour of the chateau. It would probably be a good idea to carry a small flashlight because some of the steps are dimly lit. Vaux-le-Vicomte is magnificent.

  • Candlelight visit of the castle: Guided visit of the carriage museum and audio-guided visit of the staterooms (audio guide available in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, German and Japanese).
  • Dinner & drinks in “Les Charmilles” restaurant
  • Round trip transportation in air-conditioned minivan
  • Hotel pick up & drop off
